Focus Stack: Two Aspen at Beaver Pond, Sunset
The Sigma 14mm f/1.8 DG HSM Art offers outstanding performance corner to corner, but it cannot overcome depth of field on strong near-to-far compositions, nor is it immune from some moderate field curvature. For landscape images, even f/11 might not deliver enough depth of field, particularly when there is field curvature that weakens some areas. Focus stacking is the answer.
This page shows 3 exposures of the same scene, all at f/10: near focus (on the aspen trees), far focus, and a 2-frame focus stack. Discussion is about what is gained from the stack and how it addresses the aforementioned challenges.
